God designed the family as a safe place to be in relationship with each other and with Him, and a safe place to raise children.

God’s relationship with us as His children is a good and healthy reflection of how He views family and how He desires our earthly families to be.

Scripture is full of verses about relationships and family.

Exodus 20:12
Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.

Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it.

Genesis 2:24
Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh.

Isaiah 66:13
As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you. You will be comforted in Jerusalem.

Colossians 3:21
Fathers, don’t provoke your children, so that they won’t be discouraged.

Psalm 128:3
Your wife will be as a fruitful vine in the innermost parts of your house, your children like olive shoots around your table.

Matthew 19:19
‘Honor your father and your mother.’ And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.

Proverbs 17:6
Children’s children are the crown of old men; the glory of children are their parents.

Psalm 103:17

Psalm 127:3-5
Behold, children are a heritage of Yahweh. The fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them. They won’t be disappointed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
