Do you ever sit down to pray and just… blank? Not because you don’t want to pray, but because you’ve said the same three sentences so many times that they’ve stopped feeling like anything. “Thank you for today, please help with this, amen.” It’s not wrong, exactly. It’s just thin.
That’s the gap ACTS prayer fills, and it’s the free printable I’m sharing today.
What Is ACTS Prayer?
ACTS is an acronym that gives your prayer time a simple shape: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Supplication. Each letter is a different posture to pray from, and the order isn’t random — it’s based on the pattern Jesus gave His disciples when they asked Him how to pray in Luke 11.
You start with Adoration, praising God for who He is, before you get anywhere near what you need from Him. Then Confession, being honest about where you’ve fallen short. Then Thanksgiving, naming specific things you’re grateful for. And only then, Supplication — bringing your actual requests, for yourself and for other people.
It sounds simple because it is. But there’s something about following that order that changes the whole feel of a prayer. You end up somewhere different than “please fix this,” and I think that’s the point.
What’s Inside
This printable includes:
A short explainer on what ACTS prayer is and why the order matters
A completely filled-in example, so you can see exactly what a finished prayer looks like
10 blank templates, ready to use whenever you sit down to pray
Each template has a labeled box for all four steps, with a one-line prompt under each letter so you’re never staring at a blank page wondering what goes where.
How to Use It
Sit down with one template and just work through it top to bottom. You don’t need to write paragraphs — a sentence or two under each heading is plenty. Some days Confession will only get a line. Other days it might be the longest section on the page. That’s fine; this isn’t about filling every box evenly, it’s about actually praying through all four postures instead of skipping straight to what you want.
If you’re not sure how to start Adoration, try finishing the sentence “God, You are…” with something true about His character — faithful, patient, near, in control. For Confession, it helps to be specific rather than general; “I’ve been short with my kids this week” does more than “forgive my sins.” For Thanksgiving, aim for detail — not just “my family,” but the specific moment this week that reminded you why you’re grateful for them. And for Supplication, don’t just pray for yourself; leave room for the people on your mind, too.
There’s no set schedule here. Use a template every morning if that’s your rhythm, once a week if that fits better, or just whenever you notice your prayers have gone a bit flat and you want to reset.
Why I Wanted to Make This
I think a lot of us go through seasons where prayer feels like a habit we’re going through rather than a conversation we’re actually having. Structure sounds like it would make that worse — more of a checklist, less of a relationship — but I’ve found the opposite can be true. Having somewhere to put my praise, my honesty, my gratitude, and my requests, one at a time, actually slows me down enough to mean what I’m saying in each part, instead of rushing through to get to the asking.
It’s also just genuinely useful on the hard days, when you sit down to pray and don’t know what to say at all. Having four simple starting points is enough to get you moving instead of staring at nothing.
A Couple of Practical Notes
The ten templates are meant to be reused as many times as you need — this isn’t a journal you fill in once and finish. Print a handful and keep them somewhere you’ll actually see them: tucked into your Bible, clipped to a prayer binder, or sitting on your nightstand.
If a particular section always feels hardest for you, that’s worth paying attention to. For a lot of people it’s Confession, because honesty is uncomfortable, or Adoration, because praising God for who He is (rather than what He’s done for you lately) doesn’t come as naturally as it sounds. Wherever you get stuck, that’s probably exactly the part worth sitting with a little longer.

ACTS Prayer is completely free to download and print at home. It holds up fine on regular printer paper, and cardstock is a nice option if you want your templates to last in a binder long-term.

Praying through Scripture is a great way to grow our prayer life.
Scripture is a wonderful resource when it comes to prayer, how to pray, and what to pray for.
God’s Word encourages us to pray according to His Will (1 John 5:14-15) and praying through Scripture is a good way to keep us in line with that.
The Psalms are particularly good for praying through and Psalm 91 is a great place to start.
What is Psalm 91?
Psalm 91 is known as a Psalm of protection for believers and it talks about God’s sovereign protection of His people.
It is not clear who wrote Psalm 91, some believe it was written by David, others believe it was written by Moses, with David incorporating it into his book of Psalms.
What is clear though is that whoever wrote it knew God, and knew that no matter what was going on around them at the time God was there, offering a safe place, and protection from the fears, threats and dangers they were faced with.
Why Pray Psalm 91?
Psalm 91 is a popular Psalm to pray through when seeking protection.
The busyness and worries of life are real and can often impact on our ability to cope with the every day things of life.
Maybe you are feeling overwhelmed, or unsafe, or anxious, or in need of God’s protection, Psalm 91 offers assurance and comfort to those who love God.
Take some time to read it through, meditate on it, and pray through it.
Psalm 91 Words
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of Yahweh, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
my God, in whom I trust.”
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler,
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers.
Under his wings you will take refuge.
His faithfulness is your shield and rampart.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
nor of the arrow that flies by day,
nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
and ten thousand at your right hand;
but it will not come near you.
You will only look with your eyes,
and see the recompense of the wicked.
Because you have made Yahweh your refuge,
and the Most High your dwelling place,
no evil shall happen to you,
neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.
For he will put his angels in charge of you,
to guard you in all your ways.
They will bear you up in their hands,
so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and cobra.
You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot.
“Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him.
I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him.
I will be with him in trouble.
I will deliver him, and honor him.
I will satisfy him with long life,
and show him my salvation.”
How to Pray Psalm 91
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
Thank You that You are the Lord Most High, that You are the Almighty, and that You offer me a place of rest in You. I come to You my Lord and lay myself, my cares, my fears and my worries, at Your feet. Meet with me in Your safe and sheltered place, and give me Your promised peace and rest.
I will say of Yahweh, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.”
Thank You Lord that You are my refuge and that You offer me protection like that of a mighty fortress. Thank You that I am Your child and that I can trust in You and feel safe and secure in that trust.
For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence.
Thank You Lord that whatever I am going through right now I know that You are my deliverer and that You will bring me through this.
He will cover you with his feathers. Under his wings you will take refuge. His faithfulness is your shield and rampart.
Cover me Lord with Your protection, just as a mother bird protects her chicks, so Lord I seek refuge in You. Thank You for Your faithfulness to me. I ask You Lord to shield me and protect me from anything that would come against me and seek to bring me harm or danger.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that wastes at noonday.
Help me Lord not to be afraid. I give my fears to You and I thank You that I don’t need to be afraid because You have promised to be with me always.
A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it will not come near you. You will only look with your eyes, and see the recompense of the wicked.
Help me Lord to keep my eyes fixed on you and not on the circumstances around me, help me to trust in You, no matter what others are saying or doing.
Because you have made Yahweh your refuge, and the Most High your dwelling place, no evil shall happen to you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.
Lord, protect me from evil and its influences. Thank You Lord that nothing can touch me that You have not allowed. Be my shield and defence against the enemy I pray.
For he will put his angels in charge of you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, so that you won’t dash your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and cobra. You will trample the young lion and the serpent underfoot.
Thank You Lord for your angels, thank You that they do Your Will. I ask that You would assign Your angels to me to guard and protect me throughout my day and my night.
“Because he has set his love on me, therefore I will deliver him. I will set him on high, because he has known my name.
Thank You Lord for Your unconditional and never-ending love for me. Thank You that You know me intimately and personally and You call me by my name. Your love for me is amazing!
He will call on me, and I will answer him. I will be with him in trouble. I will deliver him, and honor him.
Thank You Lord that You promise to be with me in trouble, and that You promise to deliver me. Thank You that You promise to answer me when I call on You. I call on You now Lord, and ask for your strength, Your protection, Your deliverance, and Your peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
I will satisfy him with long life, and show him my salvation.”
Thank You Lord for Your gift of salvation to me. Thank You that I am Your child, and You are my Heavenly Father. Thank You that You promise to bless me and to provide for me and to protect me.
Amen
God offers His protection for us and all we have to do is ask for it.
How wonderful is that!
Praying protection for ourselves, and our families is something we should do every day.
Why not start today?
No one can give you protection the way God can give you protection!
The Serenity Prayer is a popular prayer that was created in the 1930s by Reinhold Niebuhr. It’s a prayer about courage, wisdom, and strength and about accepting the things which we can’t change.

In Matthew 6:9-13 Jesus teaches us how to pray saying “Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
